HERMES STAFF GIVEN CHARITY CHOICE AS PARCEL FIRM DONATES £31K
Colleagues from Hermes, the consumer delivery specialist, have been given the opportunity to provide vital support to charities close to their hearts, as part of a wider CSR programme. The company has sent donations totalling more than £31,000 to a number of national and local charities chosen by employees.
As part of its mission to be a responsible business, Hermes wanted to make a continued positive impact by engaging with the communities its teams work within. Therefore, each Hermes site across the UK – whether an office, a hub or depot – was asked to come together to choose a charity to receive a £1,000 donation.
Some sites chose to support national charities, like the team from the Weybridge depot who chose the British Heart Foundation, whilst others focused on local charities. For instance, the Birmingham depot donated funds to Lets Feed Brum, whereas colleagues from Carlisle picked the Gretna Day Centre. In addition, some teams chose to split the £1,000 pot between different charities they support. For example, colleagues from the Avonmouth depot divided funds between Great Western Air Ambulance, Bristol Autism Project and Bristol Neuromuscular Services.
Jill Maples, HR Director at Hermes, said: “In response to feedback from a recent engagement survey, we wanted to provide each Hermes site across the UK with the opportunity to give something back. We are absolutely committed to fulfilling our CSR plan – Our Responsible Business – and this campaign, together with fundraising initiatives on behalf of our official 2019 charity partner CHICKS, will make a huge difference to those in need.”
