FTA Backs A Greener Future With Freight In The City Support.

The Freight Transport Association (FTA), the only business group representing all of logistics, has announced its support of Freight in the City 2018, a conference and exhibition dedicated to clean, safe and quiet urban deliveries, which illustrates its commitment to a sustainable future for freight.

Taking place at the Alexandra Palace in London on 6 November 2018, more than 1,000 members of the logistics industry will gather to shape the future of sustainability in the sector and better understand the impact of air quality initiatives, such as Clean Air Zones (CAZs). More than 60 exhibitors will be showcasing the latest technologies and vehicles available to help companies to deliver quietly, safely and sustainably in an urban environment.

Natalie Chapman , Head of South of England and Urban Policy, FTA comments: “Improving air quality and reducing vehicle emissions is a key focus for the government. While FTA and the wider logistics sector supports schemes promoting clean and sustainable deliveries, the urban freight environment is now in a state of flux and confusion. From the introduction of CAZs, Ultra Low Emission Zones, to the London Direct Vision Standard, there are a plethora of new rules and patchwork regulations to consider and FTA advises any company operating commercial vehicles to attend Freight in the City.

“Now in its fourth year of supporting the expo, FTA is totally aligned with the aim of Freight in the City: to usher in a new era of sustainable and responsible urban deliveries. We continue to campaign on behalf of our 17,000 members to ensure any new government initiative is developed with the needs of the logistics sector in mind and offers our members guidance and support wherever possible.”
