HERMES TEAM SECURES LARGEST EVER AMOUNT RAISED IN YORKSHIRE FOR THE PRINCE’S TRUST MILLION MAKERS
Employees from Hermes, the consumer delivery specialist, have received praise for their entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and innovation as they triumphed at a regional awards ceremony hosted by The Prince’s Trust.
Hermes chose to work with the Trust on the 2018 Million Makers fundraising challenge as part of its talent development programme, sponsored by Ascential.
Million Makers sees teams from various companies compete to raise at least £10,000 over a period of six months, from a seed fund of £1,500, which is provided by the Trust. Once the project is completed, the charity receives all of the proceeds, which are put towards worthwhile causes that champion young people to live, learn and earn.
A total of 32 Hermes employees, working across three separate teams, took part in the charity’s six-month long fundraising challenge. One of Hermes’ teams – The Morley Moguls – were crowned champions of the North after raising £51,752.25 – the largest ever amount raised in Yorkshire for The Prince’s Trust Million Makers challenge.
The Morley Moguls also took home the Creativity Award for their main initiative of selling advertising space on the back of Hermes trailers. This was in partnership with company suppliers, including Aura Graphics, Winner Recruitment, Cartwrights, Vitronic, Skweeky Kleen and Itelligence.
The team has now been invited to walk the red carpet and attend the prestigious Prince’s Trust National Awards, held at the London Palladium next month. It is attended by inspirational young people and a host of celebrities.
Jill Maples, HR Director at Hermes, said: “We’re taking talent development to the next level at Hermes, and we’re over the moon to have one of our teams become the Million Makers Champions of the North this year, with a record-breaking amount raised for such a fantastic cause. I know that all three teams found this a hugely valuable initiative that will play a key role in each participant’s personal development. Not only have they developed new skills and formed new friendships with colleagues, but our people raised money for a brilliant charity that engages and empowers our youth, which we’re very proud of and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with the Trust in the future.”
Claire Quigley, Senior Head of Corporate Partnerships at The Prince’s Trust, added: “It has been inspiring to see the commitment that the three Hermes teams have given to fundraising so much money for The Trust. Our Million Makers fundraising challenge is a great way for colleagues to bond and work as a team, and Hermes has certainly done that. It has been a delight to work with them, and the money raised will help us to support even more young people to develop the confidence and skills to live, learn and to earn – giving them an increasing stake in our economy and society.”
