As it celebrates its rise from humble beginnings in a garden shed to £4 million turnover growth, C&C Fabrications is rewarding its employees and investing in the future.
The steel fabrication specialist, based in Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire, is improving pay and conditions for its 29 employees.
From 1 July 2022 each person will receive:
- An 8% pay rise.
- Reduced hours – with the whole company moving to a 37-hour week.
Plus, from 1 January 2023 everyone will get an extra day off for their birthday.
And additional holidays from December 2023 (as the site will close between Christmas and New Year each year so people can spend time with their families).
The company is also investing in new kit and a new 20,000+ sq ft workshop. All of this is gearing the business towards growing its team to 40 people and achieving £6 million turnover by 2026.
C&C Fabrications’ Managing Director Chris Wallage says: “We aim to be the market leading metal fabricator in the UK, providing a complete, one stop, end-to-end, design, prototyping and manufacturing service. That’s the ambition.
“So, to help us take the business to the next level, following a management buyout, we’re investing in our people, our equipment, and capabilities. It’s a really exciting time, especially since we started the business off in my dad’s garage and now, we’re changing the face of fabrication in the industry as well as improving employee pay and conditions!”
And there’s more to come, C&C Fabrications has created an Employee Forum to ensure employees can contribute feedback and ideas into the business.
Chris adds: “Our team is our business and so it’s important for us to reward their loyalty and hard work and to involve them in the future of the business.”
How has the business achieved success in recent years? The senior management team has bought out one of the original partners, and invested in a new brand, advertising, and marketing. During the pandemic they focused on quality, delivery and attracting new customers including, Anthropods, manufacturers of a revolutionary new glamping pod design, as well as increasing business with existing customers such as Next and D S Smith.
