ARROWXL PARTNER WITH STEMWORKS TO SUPPORT SCHOOL CHILDREN IN INNOVATIVE WORCESTER WAREHOUSE CHALLENGE

ArrowXL, the UK’s largest and longest established 2-person home delivery specialist has partnered with STEMworks, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, Worcestershire County Council and District Councils throughout the county to support local school children in an exciting initiative which is now entering its sixth year.

53 primary schools and over 2,000 students from across Worcestershire will take part in the Primary STEM Challenge to design and build a model automated warehouse using K’NEX during workshops held at each school. The challenge brings children together to promote teamwork and communication through speaking and listening and includes a variety of problem-solving scenarios.

Finalists will be able to showcase their innovative thinking at the Yamazaki Mazak’s UK Headquarters in Worcester on June 15th 2023.  ArrowXL’s Richard Allen, Learning and Development Manager, and Luke Barton, Interim Regional General Manager, have been invited to attend the event as judges.

Sarah Lalor, Activities Coordinator at STEMworks UK, said: “Events like this help to shape and inspire the next generation.  They have such a positive impact on all of those involved and show just how important it is to connect schools with local businesses and inspire children from an early age.”

STEMworks is a not for profit organisation that works with schools, businesses and others to help promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.

Luke Barton commented: “We’re delighted to be a part of this exciting challenge.  It’s a great way for us to connect with our local community here in Worcester.  We’re very much looking forward to the event – hopefully the children will come up with some innovative ideas that we might be able to use in our warehouse!”
