VIDEO-ENABLED WORKER SAFETY SOLUTION DELIVERS COMPLETE DRIVER PROTECTION WITH SIX-SECOND RESPONSE TIME
SureCam and Peoplesafe’s video-enabled worker safety service has achieved emergency response times more than 150% quicker than standard 999 calls, providing the fastest and most comprehensive driver protection solution currently available to commercial fleet operators. Following a live trial undertaken in collaboration with Geotab, a global leader in connected vehicle and asset management solutions, the service recorded an average pick-up time of just 6 seconds for all raised alarms that occurred both in and outside the vehicle.
“By integrating our video telematics platform with Peoplesafe’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), we can provide drivers with a quick and easy way to request assistance in an emergency,” explains Sam Footer, Partnership Director at SureCam. “These latest results demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution, which combines rapid response with complete visibility of emergency incidents as they unfold.”
The video-enabled worker safety service allows a driver to raise an alarm via an SOS app or device when away from the vehicle or using an in-vehicle panic button when behind the wheel. The ARC verifies each alert received, based on whether it is a pressed panic alarm, fall detection, expired timer or triggered camera event, so it can be handled appropriately. SureCam’s cameras also allow ARC controllers to see what has happened at the front, rear or inside of the vehicle, while providing indisputable audio and visual evidence should any matter progress to court.
Peoplesafe’s ARC is certified against BS EN 50518:2019 Category 1 and BS 8484:2022, and operated by experienced personal safety specialists. In particular, the BS 8484:2022 certification provides fleet customers with the highest level of police response via a Unique Reference Number (URN). This enables direct access to police control rooms, without the need for a 999 call, and guarantees the fastest possible response in the event of an emergency.
Naz Dossa, CEO of Peoplesafe commented: “We have worked closely with our fleet industry partners to develop a workforce safety solution that leverages the capabilities of fleet and video telematics to provide complete driver protection. Rapid, industry-leading response is an integral part of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of employees driving and working remotely, so we are thrilled by the positive feedback from the live trial.”
Aaron Jarvis, Vice President at Geotab added: “Peoplesafe and SureCam have both successfully integrated with MyGeotab, which provides fleet operators with a single, unified view of telematics, video and driver safety. Such a rapid alarm response is a powerful safety outcome mitigating driver risk – and one only possible when the underlying data flows without friction between platforms.”
